Emily Smith

Emily is originally from Chicago, USA. She was working as a consultant, looking for ways to de-stress from her corporate job when she tried Pilates for the first time.  Right away, she knew she'd found her passion!  She loves the way Pilates not only makes her feel physically, but that it helps to clear and focus her mind.  She began her 500 hour teacher training program in 2012 and became certified by the PMA.  She loves using the Pilates Method to help others better understand their own bodies and to find balance, strength, and joyful movement.

  In 2015, she  moved with her husband to Aarhus Denmark, where she taught at several studios and continued her movement education with training on topics such as Movement and Breath, Anatomy and Functional Movement of the Upper Body, and the Neuroscience of Pain.

  After five years in Denmark, she and her husband relocated again, this time to the Hague, where she is thrilled to be a part of the team at Lux.  Emily teaches with a focus on good form, thoughtful progression, and a healthy connection between mind and body.  She strives to bring both challenge and laughter to her classes.
